jthm fans who vehemently hate mmy are annoying. there i said it.
and Nny slit a man’s throat for ‘reacting to verbal abuse’. stabbed a knife straight through a man’s skull because he hated his tie. hell, he straight up crushed someone to death with his boot because he found their lazy eye disturbing…
and that’s only some of the things he’s done during one page of the whole comic. but people act like what Jimmy did (while horrific) is any worse than what our dear, lovable Johnny has done, for the most bizarre, insignificant reasons.
that’s why the comic is so funny! it’s just this sad dude thinking he’s more #woke than anyone else on the planet, but has such a hair-trigger temper he’ll take out KNIVES on someone for a runny nose (also canon).
so when Jimmy comes along, this wannabe Johnny who’s been stalking the dude this whole time (something Nny has done to Devi as well) goes on and ON about how he raped a girl and drained her blood, Johnny is repulsed- BUT NOT BECAUSE ‘oh that’s SO much worse than me’, but because Jimmy very clearly is showing Johnny just how much of a sick fuck he actually is.
Hence the exchange of
‘but I’m just like you!!’
‘I don’t like myself very much…’
because Nny acknowledges that he’s a horrible, ruthless murderer who has no higher morals. it’s come to that point where he realizes, yeah, he’s not any better than this sexual deviant freakazoid piece of shit.
BUT THE FANS WHO WHINE ABOUT MMY DON’T GET THAT!!!!!!! AND THAT’S WHY I’M MAD BECAUSE GODDAMMIT STOP TREATING JOHNNY LIKE A PRECIOUS ANTI-HERO WHO’S NEVER HURT ANYONE AND IS JUSTIFIED IN EVERYTHING HE DOES!!! JOHNNY IS AN ABSOLUTE MONSTER!!!! but he’s a SYMPATHETIC monster in a FUNNY LIL FICTIONAL COMICBOOK and THAT’S why it’s FUN.
TL;DR: Jimmy is bad.
but Johnny is worse.
Johnny is so, so, so much worse.
Also, may I add, while Nny is not a rapist he has sexually tortured people in canon. Stripped people down and mutilated their genitals in various ways. That is still sexual abuse, even if he didn’t get off to it. Hell, even him going after Devi had some horrifying implications that still to this day when i read that chapter makes my stomach sink, and you KNOW Devi even to the end of IFS assumed Nny would do the worst to her (even if, to what he claims, he never would.)
Nny, as you pointed out, is a character of hypocrisy. While he claims to have high morals and put himself on a pedestal, we know hes a hypocrite and had broken many (if not all) of his own rules.
Johnny is scum. He is WRETCHED. To erase this from his character entirely (except in, lets say, an AU) is completely missing the point pf his character and idolizing him in a very concerning and toxic way.
Johnny C. Is IMPOSSIBLE for the “he did nothing wrong, he was forced to do it :(“ treatment. As seen in the Directors Cut, hes been like this since Childhood. Since BEFORE (as we know) he was tainted by the splintering.
He is a hypocrite and is far worse than Jimmy. He sees himself in Jimmy, but also a twisted, bastardized version of the worst parts of himself. The parts pf himself that he shies away from in fear an revolution. The fear that he would reval in such things. It disgusts him to see that twisted reflection of the parts and of himself, and right after that he tried to sever himself from all human need. Even going as far as to imply sexually mutilating HIMSELF if he experienced lust again.
Idk maybe im reading too much into things, but Nny is a fucking SPECIMEN and truly, purely evil.

You don’t have to like Jimmy. Feel free to HATE Jimmy.
But keep in mind, he is NOT worse than Nny.
You can even venture to skew what Reverend Meat alludes to as SA. He mentions that Nny is not a virgin, but the way he describes it could also be skewed as SA, and with how severely Nny reacts?
Who knows.
My point is IDK how jthm fans can morally grandstand Nny compared to Mmy when that defeats the point of the comics.

Its up to you to read it how you want, but just keep in mind Nny has done some HORRID shit as well.
